Sixteen Injured in Siverek School Shooting as Former Student Dies After Attack in Türkiye

A tragic school shooting in Siverek has left 16 people injured after an 18-year-old former student opened fire at a vocational school before taking his own life as police closed in.

The incident occurred at Ahmet Koyuncu Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in southeastern Türkiye’s Şanlıurfa Province. According to local authorities, the attacker used a shotgun to fire inside the school building, causing panic as students and staff attempted to escape.

Witnesses reported that the gunman moved through corridors while discharging his weapon before being cornered by special police units. He later died by suicide inside the school as officers moved in to arrest him.

Officials confirmed that the injured include students, teachers, a canteen worker, and a responding police officer. Emergency teams were deployed immediately, and all victims were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the motive behind the attack, while the community remains in shock over the violence at the educational institution.

The incident has renewed concerns about school safety and gun access in the region, as officials continue to review security measures in educational facilities.
