Man Dead After Queen Creek Home Standoff Ends in Police-Involved Shooting
A man is dead following a violent standoff that ended in a police shooting in Queen Creek, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say the incident began on the evening of April 13 when deputies and officers from Queen Creek responded to a home near Sossaman Road and San Tan Boulevard after reports of a shooting. Investigators reported that a man inside the residence had allegedly shot another individual, who was later transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
After the initial shooting, law enforcement attempted to safely resolve the situation and get the suspect to exit the home. However, officials say the man barricaded himself inside the residence, escalating the situation into a prolonged standoff.
According to Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Dave Moyer, the confrontation ultimately led to a police-involved shooting after contact was made with the suspect. The man was pronounced dead following the incident.
The injured victim remains in critical condition, and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the subsequent use of force is ongoing. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved as the case continues to develop.
The area was secured by law enforcement as detectives worked to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
