According to the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 7:45 a.m. on April 13, 2026, to reports of a shooting in the Pageland area of Pageland, South Carolina. First responders arrived to find Carter suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency personnel immediately provided life-saving aid before transporting him to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigation and Arrest
Authorities in Chesterfield County, South Carolina quickly launched a homicide investigation, collecting evidence and pursuing leads to identify those responsible.
Investigators later identified the suspect as Reggie Martavious Ivey, 27, of Pageland. Officials reported that Ivey fled the scene in a vehicle shortly after the shooting.
Law enforcement agencies, including the Monroe Police Department, used Flock Safety License Plate Reader technology to track the suspect’s vehicle to the Icemorlee Apartment Complex. With coordinated assistance from the Union County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, officers safely apprehended Ivey around noon without incident.
He has since been arrested on an outstanding murder warrant, and additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
