Police Arrest Suspect in Brookhaven Kroger Early-Morning Shooting

Brookhaven, Georgia — Authorities have arrested a 26-year-old Atlanta man, Olaolukitan Adon Abel, in connection with a shooting that occurred in the early hours of April 13 at the Cherokee Plaza Kroger store on Peachtree Road in Brookhaven, Georgia.

According to the Brookhaven Police Department, officers responded at approximately 1:59 a.m. to reports of a person shot. Upon arrival, they found an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. First responders provided immediate aid before the victim was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Police later confirmed that Adon Abel was taken into custody without incident by the Georgia Department of Public Safety in Troup County following coordinated efforts with Brookhaven detectives. He faces charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, along with two counts of malice murder related to separate incidents in unincorporated DeKalb County.

Authorities also revealed that this marks the second shooting at the same Kroger location in less than a month, raising renewed concerns about public safety in the area.

The Brookhaven Police Department is continuing to work alongside the DeKalb County Police Department and state partners to investigate the series of incidents and ensure all responsible parties are held accountable.
