NJ Authorities Identify Victim in Fatal Chick-fil-A Mass Shooting in Union Township
New Jersey authorities have identified the victim killed in a mass shooting at a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Union Township, New Jersey.
The victim has been named as Malek Shepherd, a 23-year-old New York City resident who was inside the fast-food restaurant as a customer when the shooting occurred, according to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and local police.
The incident took place on Saturday night at a Chick-fil-A located on Route 22 in Union Township, New Jersey, USA, approximately 20 miles from Manhattan. Authorities confirmed that Shepherd was among seven people who were shot during the attack.
Officials reported that six other victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. No arrests have been made, and law enforcement has not announced any suspects at this time.
Police stated there is currently no ongoing threat to the public, though the investigation remains active as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
