Homicide in Wynne, Arkansas Under Investigation; Nearby Home Severely Damaged
A homicide in Wynne is under active investigation after authorities responded to a deadly incident on Tuesday at a residence near C Street and Fitzhugh Circle, according to the Arkansas State Police.
State police confirmed they were requested by the Wynne Police Department to assist in the investigation. Officials stated there was no standoff involved, though they have not released further details as the case remains ongoing.
Video from the scene showed multiple law enforcement vehicles surrounding a residential area on Tuesday afternoon as officers secured the neighborhood. Investigators also focused on a separate home on K Street, located a few blocks from the homicide scene, after receiving information that a person of interest may have gone there.
The K Street property was later found heavily damaged, with shattered windows, smoke damage, and part of an exterior wall collapsed inside the home. Law enforcement reportedly used flash-bang devices while searching the residence, but the suspect was not located inside.
Homeowner Grandester Johnson-el said she was inside at the time of the police activity and had allowed officers to search the home. Despite this, she said the property was left significantly damaged following the operation, marking a second major loss after a previous home on the same property was destroyed by a tornado about a year ago.
Authorities have not released information about possible suspects or a motive. The investigation remains active, and officials say a formal update is expected as the case develops.
