The community of Columbus, Ohio is mourning the tragic death of Jodi Tackett, 45, who was killed in a devastating multi-vehicle crash on the city’s west side in the early hours of the morning.
According to the Columbus Division of Police, officers responded around 2:40 a.m. to a serious collision on Interstate 270 near Georgesville Road involving multiple vehicles.
Details of the Crash
Investigators reported that two individuals were outside a Toyota minivan on the shoulder of the roadway changing a tire, while a Toyota Corolla was positioned roughly 50 feet behind them. Jodi Tackett was inside the Corolla when a 2011 Audi A4 traveling eastbound reportedly lost control, veered off the road, and struck the rear of the vehicle, triggering a chain-reaction crash.
Authorities confirmed that Tackett was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:51 a.m., while another victim sustained critical injuries and was transported to Grant Medical Center for emergency treatment.
Suspect Apprehended
Following the crash, police said the Audi driver fled on foot but was later located near a Lowe’s store on Georgesville Square Drive and taken into custody. Lowe’s is not involved in the incident, but the location was used as a reference point in the search and arrest.
